There has been time for a bit of fun and games

Well, we are a bit depleted now, Mark has gone home for the weekend, he will be back for more painting on Monday, Jonny left last night for a weeks holiday with Chelsey, before he starts work polishing Dilbar! He had been in the lazeret to paint it, he was the only one who could get right inside, Paul and Phil's bellies being too big!!
Chelsey has also been over to Rowena to help, her job was brassoing and making a brew, neither of which she had the faintest idea of what she had to do! Southerner you see! Anyway she has now added brassoing to her cv and updated her facebook status apparently! Paul, Mark and Phil wanted to send her to the chandlery for a 'long wait' but Jonny told her what they meant!

Phil left this morning after a night out at the casino with Russ, both came back with less money than they went out with.

You can see how stressed everyone has been, we have had no trips to Cowes, no ten pin bowling its been work, work, work, not many photos taken either till the last couple of days.

We are staying another week I think, Rowena is still in the shed, she should of been put back in the water on Friday.

Its not going too well over in the shed with Rowena's paint. Everyone is very stressed, the paint keeps running or there's dust in it or you can see the join from one bit to another! I think today they rang International, whose paint they are using for advice, and apparently they have been using the wrong thinners so they are trying that now. Six times the paint has been sprayed on and had to be rubbed off, I'm glad I am just the cook.

Speaking of cooking two roast chickens and accompanying veg last night. Tonight its Chelseys choice of spaghetti meatballs, so Phil is having his own plated meal of pork chop and veg as he doesn't like pasta, well only lasagna, typical man, doesn't he know there's pasta in lasagna.

Now for some good news, Jonny has a job on a motoryacht 'Dilbar' google it!! He starts next week, its in Germany at the moment but could go anywhere the owner wants it to go to.

For those of you who know her, my friend Maureen became a granny yesterday, a little girl, born to Rhian. They are both made up.

Its looking like we won't be home anytime soon, so keep watching the blog for news.

Rowena and her plastic coat!

Things are going to plan on Rowena, the rubbing down and filling the gaps has been done and the plastic tent has been put up so that spraying can be done. Phil has started on his anti fouling.

They have been working very hard, from 8 till 7 every day, by the end of the day all they want is tea and a nice rest. Phil has been to the casino and did very well in his poker game!! I say that all of them have been working hard but here is Paul on his phone, which, I have on good authority, he was on for hours!

And here is Phil enjoying his mega breakfast, which he has had every day so far!

Now who am I writing about? A company director goes into the 99p shop to buy a few bits for his boat, he selects his items and takes them to the till, he says to the sales assistant, and I quote 'I need these, but there is no price on them'!! The assistant rolls her eyes and says you're in a 99p shop so they are 99p. Priceless

A few photos

Here we are again, Rowena is now out of the water and in the shed, Phil is antifouling the hull and Mark and Jonny are rubbing down the flybridge, 'ex student' Jonny is not used to manual work! and is worn out after one day!.

We decided to go to Cowes for tea on Sunday on Venture, the weather was cold but very calm, it was low tide, but the decision was made too take the short cut to Cowes. Wrong decision, the props hit the bottom and now have chunks out of them! So now the stainless props idea is now being talked about, any bets on the outcome?

Today Paul is off at a meeting, so the boys are on their own, when I got up this morning they were having breakfast watching telly, would never be allowed if Mr Jones had been there.

I am chief cook and last night we had the pesto chicken, 9 chicken breasts, 12 potatoes, and a full packet of frozen veg disappeared in a very short space of time!
Its shepherds pie tonight and pancakes as its Shrove Tuesday.

I am on my bike for the shopping as there is no car here for me to drive. Its raining at the moment so I am hoping it will stop soon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Well, Happy New Year to all you bloggers! We hope you had a good Christmas and New Year and managed in the snow! Talking of snow poor old Rowena and Venture have suffered, Rowena, when Paul, Nige, Mark and Steve Bithell went to see her on 8th Jan was weighed down under the ice that had formed on the sheet, the decks were all covered in ice where the snow had melted and then frozen. Paul soon got to work and ordered everyone to chip the ice off while he supervised!

Last weekend it was ' service the engines weekend' this meant changing oil and diesel filters, I had the very important job of handing the filters to Paul and 'gofering' for anything that he had forgotten. I was allowed to start the engines and rev them up though, my apprenticeship is progressing.

Next week Rowena comes out of the water for her annual bottom scrape and paint work. Phil, Mark and Paul will be in Endeavour Quay for two weeks, and I will be cooking. Jonny is coming to help to get some experience of maintenance, though he is looking for jobs now that he is a qualified Commercial Yachtmaster!!! Which is more than his dad is!

So watch this space for more antics!
